When a sweet black lab named Josie is the first to greet you as you walk into The Good Wood Guys’s shop, you realize that you’re not in an average wood store.
Then, when you check out the roster of classes teaching sustainable sawmilling and the benefits of Upcycling, you REALLY realize that you’re not in your average wood store.
Finally, when you see the stockroom full of Ash, Elm, Locust, Maple, and countless other species, you REALLY REALLY realize that the Good Wood Guys are not just a woodshop. They’re a force in the Urban Lumber Movement that passionately cares about their community, their customers, the projects they make, and the environmental impact of the wood that they sell.
Based out of Great Falls, Montana, Urban Wood Network Members, The Good Wood Guys, are an active voice in their community when it comes to demonstrating the uses and benefits of urban wood and sustainable practices.
Whether they’re hosting their weekly Urban Sawmill Demonstrations, teaching shop classes, implementing their new apprenticeship program, becoming certified in lumber grading through the NHLA, or selling raffle tickets to the community for a table they’re making from the town’s Christmas Tree (seriously, they re-purposed the town’s Christmas Tree and are using the profits to fund the city’s future holiday decorations). The team is ALWAYS up to something fun in the shop!
